The key highlights of the CBDT notification dated 8^th August 2013 regarding Tax Free Bonds - FY 2013 - 14:

 

1. The following entities have got with the below stated limits for raising out funds through tax free bonds in the Current FY:

3. Tenure: 10,15 & 20 Years.

 

4. Coupon Rates:

A. The ceiling coupon rate for AAA Rated Company

# The higher ROI available to retail will not be available if the bonds are transferred by RII to Non Retail.

 

B. The ceiling coupon rate for “AA+” Rated Company – The ceiling coupon shall be 0.10% above the ceiling for AAA Rated entities.

 

C. The ceiling coupon rate for “AA” or “AA-” Rated Company – The ceiling coupon shall be 0.20% above the ceiling for AAA Rated entities.

 

* The reference G Sec = Average of the base yield of G Sec for Equivalent Maturity as per FIMMDA on a daily basis prevailing for two weeks ending on Friday immediately preceding the filing of ROC in case of Public Issue.

 

5.  Public Issue: 70% of aggregate amount bond issued by each entity shall be raised through Public issue; 40% of public issue shall be reserved for retail.

 

6. Issue Expense cap: For Private Placement- 0.25%, For Public issue-0.65%.

Last Thursday, an intruder attempted to secure personal information of our registered developers from our developer website. Sensitive personal information was encrypted and cannot be accessed, however, we have not been able to rule out the possibility that some developers’ names, mailing addresses, and/or email addresses may have been accessed. In the spirit of transparency, we want to inform you of the issue. We took the site down immediately on Thursday and have been working around the clock since then.

In order to prevent a security threat like this from happening again, we’re completely overhauling our developer systems, updating our server software, and rebuilding our entire database. We apologize for the significant inconvenience that our downtime has caused you and we expect to have the developer website up again soon.

If your program membership was set to expire during this period, it has been extended and your app will remain on the App Store. If you have any other concerns about your account, please contact us.

Apple Developer Site Compromised

Several days after taking its developer Web site down without a mention of the reason, Apple has revealed that attackers had breached the site. The company said that while it can’t rule out the theft of developers’ data, all of the sensitive personal information was encrypted.

Apple posted a notice on its developer Web site and also sent an email to developers who have accounts with the company, saying that as a result of the breach Apple is making some changes on its back end infrastructure and also is rebuilding the developer database.

Apple’s developer site serves as a resource for people who write apps for the company’s various platforms, including OS X and iOS. The site, as the company said, has been down since July 18, but it wasn’t until Sunday that the company provided any information about the incident or why the site had been taken offline. Apple is a frequent target for attackers of all stripes, as are its users and developers. The company itself admitted earlier this year that it was hit by an intrusion from a group of attackers who used a Java zero day vulnerability. The same group had breached Facebook, as well.

Apple’s iTunes store has been hit by various attacks in recent years, as well.

The CIOs have spoken…

224 CIOs participated in the CIO Association of India‘s annual survey on India’s Most Respected Technology Vendors.

We asked them the question “Which technology vendor (operating in India) do you respect the most?“

Key Findings:

1. IBM continues to dominate the list. Even though it has lost more than 8% of the votes compared to 2012, it is still almost three times as respected as the next name on the list.
2. Oracle and Google are no longer part of the top 10, they were at 6th and 10th place respectively in 2012.
3. Microsoft has gained four spots, jumping from 8th to 4th place.
4. Dell and HP have exchanged places, Dell is now 2nd and HP occupies the 3rd spot.
5. Cisco has dropped three places from 4th to 7th.
6. EMC and Cognizant are the new entrants into the top 10.

Ernst & Young has released a 53-page report that explores how brands are using social media in India. The report surveyed 48 social media savvy organizations in India including P&G, Cleartrip, Flipkart, Microsoft and others.

Here are some of key findings shared in the E&Y report:

• Facebook is the most important platform for marketers in India for engaging customers, followed by Twitter, YouTube and blogging. More than half of the organizations surveyed regularly engage with bloggers or online influencers who have authority and strong following.
• Most brands in India use social media to build communities while others use it to highlight news. They prefer to post generic updates instead of brand updates.
• Almost half of social media-savvy organizations surveyed spend 1%–5% of their marketing budget on social media, most social media budgets are below INR 10 million.
• Majority of social media efforts in India are managed by marketing teams. They use standalone digital agencies as compared to PR or ad agencies.

Indian brands are primarily focusing their attention on Facebook and Twitter while Google Plus, Foursquare and Pinterest are not on the radar, at least in the near future.
