Few Eye Catching Adds

Look at the various resources used for add-making !!

Phone Lines

Tangled phone lines are a common sight on the streets of Bangkok, so Procter & Gamble decided to take advantage of how they resembled long strands of tangled hair. To promote P&G's line of Rejoice conditioners, a large green comb was placed on the telephone lines, reading: "Tangles? Switch to Rejoice Conditioners."

Pizza Boxes

Staying home and ordering a pizza will no longer keep you safe from ads. Cingular Wireless recently launched its "I Love New York" ad campaign on pizza boxes in the city.

Tray Tables

Free in-flight meals might be a thing of the past, but US Airways has found another use for tray tables—advertisements. Among the companies plastering their ads on US Airways tray tables are Verizon Wireless and GM Saab.

Straws

If you're the Y-Plus Yoga Center in Shanghai, what better way to communicate how flexible yoga practitioners are than putting your ads on a bendable straw? The inventive straws were distributed in a Shanghai juice bar near the yoga center.

Manholes

Covering manholes in New York City are ads that look like a steaming cup of coffee. (No doubt they don't smell as good.) The coffee ad was fitted with tiny holes to allow the steam to seep through and impart that hot-coffee look.

Blankets

The Leo Barnett offices in Johannesburg took their message to heart and made sure they helped the homeless while still making a point. Advertisements for last year's Salvation Army Winter Appeal were printed on real blankets and hung on walls around Johannesburg with a message encouraging the homeless to use them if needed.

Cocktail Umbrellas

In an attempt to show just how vulnerable everyone is to date-rape drugs, advertising agency TBWA/London came up with an ad campaign that took their message straight to the bars. Cocktail umbrellas bearing a message and a Web-site address were plopped in the drinks of bar customers who left their beverages unattended.

Sundial Billboard

Hoping to boost breakfast sales in their hometown of Chicago, McDonalds hired Leo Burnett USA to come up with ideas for a year-long advertising initiative. They hit gold when they place a working sundial on a solitary billboard across the street from busy Wrigley Field. The sundial was a hit among passerby’s who watched the shadow of the famous golden arches highlight the best meal to eat at that hour. But the billboard got even more attention, and eyeballs, online as blogs and news sites picked up an image of the billboard.

Snowplows

Leo Burnett worked with the city of Chicago to use its snowplows to promote McDonald's Arctic Orange shakes. The bright orange snowplows, plastered with an image of the shake, drew attention by driving around the city of Chicago on sweltering summer days.

Streets

When coming up with an ad campaign for FedEx Kinko's, the innovative minds at advertising agency BBDO were inspired by the streets of New York. The agency installed oversized bottles of correction fluid, highlighters, and, in one case, an office lamp, on the city's busy thoroughfares for a couple of days earlier this year.

Eggs

How do you like your ads—scrambled or fried? CBS Television announced that it will start etching ads for its new fall programming on about 35 million eggs. The campaign is set to roll out in September and October.
