The Corn Story

There was a farmer who grew superior quality and award-winning CORN. Each year he entered his CORN in the state fair where it won honor and prizes.

Once a newspaper reporter interviewed him and learnt something interesting about how he grew it. The reporter discovered that the farmer shared his seed corn with his neighbours'.
'How can you afford to share your best seed corn with your neighbours when they are entering corn in competition with yours each year?' the reporter asked.

'Why sir, 'said the farmer, 'didn't you know? The wind picks up pollen from the ripening corn and swirls it from field to field. If my neighbors grow inferior, sub-standard and poor quality corn, cross-pollination will steadily degrade the quality of my corn. If I am to grow good corn, I must help my neighbors grow good corn.

The farmer gave a superb insight into the connectedness of life. His corn cannot improve unless his neighbor’s corn also improves. So it is in the other dimensions!

Those who choose to be at harmony must help their neighbors and colleagues to be at peace.
Those who choose to live well must help others to live well.

Success does not happen in isolation. It is very often a participative and collective process.

If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchange apples, then you and I will still each have one apple. But if you have an idea and I have an idea and we exchange these ideas, then each of us will have two ideas

Subject: THE STOCK MARKETS EXPLAINED. too good

The Stock Market simply illustrated ... is there a lesson here?

Once upon a time in a village, a man appeared and announced to the villagers that he would buy monkeys for Rs10. The villagers seeing that there were many monkeys around, went out to the forest and started catching them. The man bought thousands at Rs10 and as supply started to diminish, the villagers stopped their effort. He further announced that he would now buy at Rs20. This renewed the efforts of the villagers and they started catching monkeys again. Soon the supply diminished even further and people started going back to their farms. The offer rate increased to Rs25 and the supply of monkeys became so little that it was an effort to even see a monkey let alone catch it. The man now announced that he would buy monkeys at Rs50! However, since he had to go to the city on some business, his assistant would now buy on behalf of him. In the absence of the man, the assistant told the villagers. Look at all these monkeys in the big cage that the man has collected. I will sell them to you at Rs35 and when the man returns from the city, you can sell it to him for Rs50." The villagers squeezed up with all their savings to buy the monkeys. Then they never saw the man nor his assistant, only monkeys everywhere!! !!

7 Destructive Habits of Incompetent People

7 Destructive Habits of Incompetent People

By Michael Lee

Number 1 - They Think, Say, & Do Negative Things.

Yup. They see problems in every opportunity.

They complain that the sun is too hot. They cursed the rain for ruining their plans for the day. They blame the wind for ruining their hair.

They think that everyone is against them. They see the problems but never the solutions.

Every little bit of difficulty is exaggerated to the point of tragedy. They regard failures as catastrophes. They become discouraged easily instead of learning from their mistakes.

They never seem to move forward because they're always afraid to come out of their comfort zones.

Number 2 - They Act Before They Think.

They move based on instinst or impulse. If they see something they like, they buy at once without any second thought.

Then they see something better. They regret & curse for not able to take advantage of the bargain.

Then they spend & spend again until nothing's left. They don't think about the future. What they're after is the pleasure they will experience at present.

They don't think about the consequenses. Those who engage in unsafe sex, criminality, and the like are included in this group.

Number 3 - They Talk Much More Than They Listen

They want to be the star of the show. So they always engage in talks that would make them heroes, even to the point of lying.

Oftentimes they are not aware that what they're saying is not sensible anymore.

When other people advise them, they close their ears because they're too proud to admit their mistakes.

In their mind they're always correct. They reject suggestions because that will make them feel inferior.

Number 4 - They Give Up Easily

Successful people treat failures as stepping stones to success.

Incompetent ones call it quits upon recognizing the first signs of failure.

At first, they may be excited to start an endeavor. But then they lose interest fairly quickly, especially when they encounter errors.

Then they go & search for a new one. Same story & same results. Incompetent people don't have the persistence to go on and fulfill their dreams.

Number 5 - They Try to Bring Others Down To Their Level

Incompetent people envy other successful individuals. Instead of working hard to be like them, these incompetent ones spread rumors and try every dirty trick to bring them down.

They could've asked these successful ones nicely. But no, they're too proud. They don't want to ask advise. Moreover, they're too negative to accomplish anything.

Number 6 - They Waste Their Time

They don't know what to do next. They may just be contented on eating, getting drunk, watching TV, or worse, staring at the blank wall with no thoughts whatsoever to improve their lives.

It's perfectly fine to enjoy once in a while. But time should be managed efficiently in order to succeed. There should be a proper balance between work & pleasure.

Number 7 - They Take the Easy Way Out
If there are two roads to choose from, incompetent people would choose the wider road with less rewards than the narrower road with much better rewards at the end.

They don't want any suffering or hardship. They want a good life.

What these people don't know is that what you reap is what you sow. Efforts & action will not go unnoticed.

If only they would be willing to sacrifice a little, they would be much better off.

Successful people made it through trials & error. They never give up. They are willing to do everything necessary to achieve what they aspire for in life.

FW: Monsoon Information for Mumbai

Dear All,

Crucial information with regard to heavy rainfall this monsoon:

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) Disaster Management Cell (DMC) has prepared a list for days to be careful in, this monsoon.

Sea tides on these days are expected to reach at least 4.6 metres. So if thundershowers fall at the same time, one can expect heavy flooding. The expected tide levels have been given below by the Met Department, Mumbai.

Date  Day  Peak High Tide Time

June 15, 2007  Fri 12.40 hrs
June 16, 2007 Sat 13.28 hrs
June 17, 2007 Sun 14.14 hrs

 August 02, 2007  Thu 14.32 hrs
August 30, 2007  Thu 13.20 hrs
August 31, 2007  Fri  13.56 hrs

 September 28, 2007  Fri  00.50 hrs
September 29, 2007  Sat  01.34 hrs
September 30, 2007  Sun 02.19 hrs

The above days could be the worst days, with the tide expected to touch 4.71 metres. In case of heavy showers  during the danger days, rainwater would not drain away as seawater  would gush into drains.

A DMC official said, "If there is 20 mm of rain for an hour during high tide, it would cause flooding."
Heavy rains during high tides could paralyse the city with floods.

Subject: Some info about the Top IT companies in India

Top most Firing IT companies in India

1) IBM --- Right now this is the most firing and dangerous company for IT professionals. From the last 6 months, this company fired nearly 20% of their employees because of BG check and performance issues. This is most unsecured company from IT professionals point of view. They didn't have any strategic plans at HR policies regarding employee security. Most people start rejecting their offer due to this policy. No appraisal (maximum 10%).

2) Accenture --- This is second top most firing company. This company was also having good firing rate like 15%. This is basically depends upon outsourcing, so there is no job security for an employee in this company.

3) WIPRO --- Doing very bad. Firing people with very frequent back ground checks and firing them with out even experience letters and reliving (will mention as terminated from services)but will promise the employees that they will retain them. After the project is over they will fire away. Will file criminal cases against such employees

4) Intel --- Recently they started firing of the employees. It is going in heavy loss so it is firing 3000 employees in the Banglore city.

5) CTS --- Always having firing policies (checking the Educational background and previous employment and also employee performance in work). This is not a good company to work heavy work load.

6) CSC --- Basically not a firing, proud to be a CSCian. Excellent package. Background check. But still in firing list.

7) Satyam --- Basing upon their projects requirement they used to fire the people. Currently they stopped firing. Attrition rate is very high. No firing since 2005. It again fired 1000 employees in hyderabad.

8) Patni ---- They fired so many employees, currently they are in very much deficiency with the employees. Attrition rate is very high in this company.

9) Keane India ---- This USA based company is always involved in firing employees. Although they proudly say that they dont have hire and fire policy but they fire the employees frequently. Recently they fired some java and as400 professionals after that most of the employee leave this company due to this region. Most employees change this company within 1 year.

So take care before accepting offers from these companies.

Secured IT companies in India

1) Microsoft --- Has project till 2050.

2) EDS --- Most secured company in India. Not laid off any of its employees even during 2001. Have lots of projects in Defense and financial areas

3) HP --- Dream Company. In-house and outside projects

4) TCS --- A govt. IT Company. Secured.

5) AOL, Google and Yahoo - Best companies to work with, a great job satisfaction as well as great salary, work environment in both companies is superb. Rarely fires an employee. As they are internet companies lot of opportunities to grow.

6) HCL -- A good company to be in. Also called as a retirement company.

7) HSBC--- This is the most secured company. It has never firer any employee even they know that the employee is showing fake experience. Its very secured and reputed company to work

8) KPIT Cumminns Inforsystems Limited ---- This is the most secure company not known to many of employees. It has presently acquired CG Smith, Bangalore and lot of projects in pipe line. Acquisitions are going to continue.

DETERMINATON

In 1883, a creative engineer named John Roebling was inspired by an idea to build a spectacular bridge connecting New York with the Long Island. However bridge building experts throughout the world thought that this was an impossible feat and told Roebling to forget the idea. It just could not be done. It was not practical. It had never been done before.

Roebling could not ignore the vision he had in his mind of this bridge. He thought about it all the time and he knew deep in his heart that it could be done. He just had to share the dream with someone else. After much discussion and persuasion he managed to convince his son Washington, an up and coming engineer, that the bridge in fact could be built.

Working together for the first time, the father and son developed concepts of how it could be accomplished and how the obstacles could be overcome. With great excitement and inspiration, and the headiness of a wild challenge before them, they hired their crew and began to build their dream bridge.

The project started well, but when it was only a few months underway a tragic accident on the site took the life of John Roebling. Washington was injured and left with a certain amount of brain damage, which resulted in him not being able to walk or talk or even move.

"We told them so."
"Crazy men and their crazy dreams."
"It`s foolish to chase wild visions."

Everyone had a negative comment to make and felt that the project should be scrapped since the Roeblings were the only ones who knew how the bridge could be built. In spite of his handicap Washington was never discouraged and still had a burning desire to complete the bridge and his mind was still as sharp as ever.

He tried to inspire and pass on his enthusiasm to some of his friends, but they were too daunted by the task. As he lay on his bed in his hospital room, with the sunlight streaming through the windows, a gentle breeze blew the flimsy white curtains apart and he was able to see the sky and the tops of the trees outside for just a moment.

It seemed that there was a message for him not to give up. Suddenly an idea hit him. All he could do was move one finger and he decided to make the best use of it. By moving this, he slowly developed a code of communication with his wife.

He touched his wife's arm with that finger, indicating to her that he wanted her to call the engineers again. Then he used the same method of tapping her arm to tell the engineers what to do. It seemed foolish but the project was under way again.

For 13 years Washington tapped out his instructions with his finger on his wife's arm, until the bridge was finally completed. Today the spectacular Brooklyn Bridge stands in all its glory as a tribute to the triumph of one man's indomitable spirit and his determination not to be defeated by circumstances. It is also a tribute to the engineers and their team work, and to their faith in a man who was considered mad by half the world. It stands too as a tangible monument to the love and devotion of his wife who for 13 long years patiently decoded the messages of her husband and told the engineers what to do.

Perhaps this is one of the best examples of a never-say-die attitude that overcomes a terrible physical handicap and achieves an impossible goal.

Often when we face obstacles in our day-to-day life, our hurdles seem very small in comparison to what many others have to face. The Brooklyn Bridge shows us that dreams that seem impossible can be realised with determination and persistence, no matter what the odds are.

Even the most distant dream can be realized with determination and persistence.
